From JetBlue's new Mint Service to Barbados to new flights and carriers, it's been a big week for air travel to the Caribbean. Here's the latest news that should be on your radar. 

JetBlue's "Mint" Flights to Service Barbados, Aruba in November

Plans for JetBlue’s Mint Service to be included on flights from New York to Barbados, as well as on those traveling from New York to Aruba, have recently been announced. 

The Saturday roundtrip flight service to Barbados is expected to launch on November 7, 2015, and run through April 30, 2016, every Saturday, with extended daily service during the holiday season (December 19, 2015 – January 4, 2016). Rates start at $599 each way for off-peak flights. Mint features include private suites, wide seating and fully-flat beds, tapas-style dining, custom amenity kits and 15-inch flatscreen televisions with free entertainment.

Seasonal Flights to Bermuda to Launch This Spring From Three U.S. Cities

It will now be even easier to access Bermuda with the addition of outbound flights from Philadelphia, Charlotte and Washington D.C.

According to the Bermuda Tourism Authority, seasonal departures will take flight beginning March 29, when US Airways resumes daily service from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to Hamilton, Bermuda (BDA). The airline will also offer bi-weekly flights from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) and Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) from June to mid-August.

Additional flights from other main hubs, including New York/Newark, New Jersey (EWR), Boston’s Logan International Airport (BOS), Miami International Airport (MIA), Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) and Toronto Pearson International Airport  (YYZ) will be offering direct flights to Bermuda in the upcoming months.

BlueSky Airlines Could Be Caribbean's Next Regional Carrier

According to a report in Caribbean Journal, a new airline is planning to offer a route between Nassau and Cartagena. If BlueSky Airlines’ plans are approved, the company expects to launch sometime midyear.

Southwest Airlines Launches New Aruba, Costa Rica Flights

Two new flights have been added to Southwest Airlines’ service to the Caribbean and Central America: a daily nonstop flight between San Jose, Costa Rica, and Baltimore/Washington, and a seasonal (through August 8) Saturday flight between Aruba and Houston.

British Airways to Expand Service to Turks and Caicos in October

Starting October 29, British Airways will be adding a second weekly flight from London Gatwick to Providenciales. Along with a weekly Sunday flight from Heathrow to Providenciales that launches March 29, the new services will be offered Thursdays via Antigua on a Boeing 777 aircraft.
