Puerto Rico Still Upgrading-String of Hotel Renovations ContinueOctober 11, 2007 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor Travel Agent
Caribe Hilton is in the midst of a major makeover, keeping alive a trend of San Juan upgrades that we first told you about in September.
The resort is in the middle of a major makeover, including renovations of garden wing and executive tower guest rooms, corridors, lobby, landscaping, public areas, two restaurants and two ballrooms. This is in addition to the recently completed expansion, including a new Executive Floor lounge and 168 Condado Lagoon Villas, making the resort the largest in San Juan. The property offers a 10 percent commission. Agents should contact Madelaine Nadal, director of sales, at 787-721-0303 or [email protected].
In September, Travel Agent told you about Doubletree Hotels’ announcement that it had entered into a franchise license agreement to introduce the brand’s first upscale, full-service hotel product in the Caribbean.
The 184-room Hotel Pierre at Gallery Plaza is set to launch a year-long, multi-phase renovation that will include extensive property-wide design, technology and service upgrades. Guest rooms and public areas will be renovated extensively, and new meeting and banquet rooms are being created. Upon completion in mid-2008, the hotel will welcome guests as the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel San Juan.
Around the same time, Travel Agent also brought you the news that El San Juan Hotel & Casino renovated its pool area. The 130-seat La Veranda restaurant, which overlooks the pool, gardens and beach, was recently renamed the Encanto Beach Club & Grill after an extensive renovation that was conceived and created by club designer Stephane Dupoux, whose portfolio includes the Buddha Bar in the Meat Packing District of Manhattan. Dupoux redesigned the deck and poolside areas, creating a décor that blends bedroom, gaming and bar elements in the nautilus-shaped open-air lounge. The pool area has 24 canopied, double-sided daybeds along the shoreline, three private cabanas, hammocks, swings, a swim-up bar and stylish outside showers, overstuffed chaise lounges and cocoon chairs.
