Report: BlueSky Airlines Could Be Caribbean's Next Regional Carrier

bluesky airlinesCaribbean Journal is reporting that a new Caribbean airline is in development. According to the report, the Cayman Islands-based BlueSky Airlines is tentatively planning to fly across the Caribbean Basin, from Nassau to Cartagena, Colombia.

According to a recent statement from the company, its chairman and acting CEO is Kenny Rankin, who’s joined by a leadership team that includes COO Peter Schmid, Chief Commercial Officer Mark Ellinger, Chief Pilot and Head of Training Ian Cheese and Director of Marketing Tara Ebanks, among others.

Subject to government approval, the company’s plan is to operate direct flights from Grand Cayman to Santo Domingo, Montego Bay, Panama City, Cartagena, Cancun and Nassau, according to the report.

BlueSky is slated to include Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 NextGen turboprop aircraft. The company will begin with two aircraft. The company has said it expects to launch operations later in the middle of this year.
