Grand Circle Travel, an international travel company for Americans 50 and over, offers a $600 discount for couples or free singles supplements on its 2012 "China and Yangtze River Cruise Tour."
The 21-day cruise starts at $3,445, or $165 per day, including international airfare; or $2,395, or $120 a day, without airfare. Offered March through November 2012.
The tour explores Beijing, Shanghai, Wuhan, Chongqing, Xian, Guilin, and Hong Kong and includes a four-night cruise along the Li River. Flights leave from San Francisco or Los Angeles. The package includes accommodations, 44 meals including two lunches at homes in Shanghai and Xian, more than a dozen tours and events, five percent frequent traveler credit and baggage handling for one piece of luggage.
A few of Grand Circle's sightseeing tours include Beijing and Forbidden City; Shanghai; Three Gorges Dam; Panda visit; and Hong Kong. Discovery Series events include a visit to Shanghai market and Cao Yang New Village senior center; a home-hosted lunch with a Shanghai family, a home visit in Wanxian with a relocated family, and a primary school visit and home-hosted lunch in Xian.
Grand Circle offers optional pre-and post-trip extensions to the base program. The six-night South Korea: Seoul and Gyeongju pre-trip is new for 2012 and begins at $1,995, or take the four-night post-trip option in Bangkok, Thailand, from $995.
