Six Senses has announced its flagship North American property in New York City, coming in 2019.

The arrival of Six Senses New York comes with the development of HFZ Capital Group’s full block mixed-use development project, which is currently under construction at 11th avenue along the City’s famed High Line park.

The Six Senses New York will be located within the East Tower of the two-tower development called The Eleventh, which is also slated for completion in 2019. The hotel will have 137 rooms and suites, a large spa and condominium residences above. The West Tower, the taller of the two, will be dedicated entirely to condominium residences. The towers, to be located between the High Line and the Hudson River, are being designed by the BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) architecture firm.

The architecture of the towers draw inspiration from New York’s classic Modernist structures and cultural institutions, while skewing the traditional skyscraper geometry with rotating forms to maximize tower views. The towers will be the tallest buildings in West Chelsea, at approximately 300 and 400 feet tall, creating 360-degree views of the High Line, Hudson River and the downtown and midtown Manhattan skylines.

The setting and development of The Eleventh made it the ideal “urban home” for the first U.S. hotel project for Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas, the flagship urban property, and addition among the Six Senses collection which currently operates in Thailand, Maldives, Oman and Portugal, among others.

Six Senses currently operates 10 resorts and 28 spas in destinations influenced by the brand’s dedication to wellness and sustainability within high-end facilities and services.

Pegasus Capital Advisors L.P., the New York-based private equity fund, acquired Six Senses Hotels Resorts Spas in 2012 and is also a partner in the development project with HFZ.
