February 26, 2009 By: Mackenzie Allison

The New Yorker Hotel has completed its 18-month, $70 million renovation.

Reminiscent of the New York and Hollywood art-deco style of the 1930's, the renovation project included increasing room inventory from 860 guest rooms to 912—64 of which are suites; an overhaul of furniture, carpets, wallpaper and fixtures in guest rooms and hallways on guest floors; new tapered pedestal sinks, arched shower curtains and custom mirror and glass shelf assemblies in the bathrooms; a new heating and cooling system, which allows guests to control the heat and air-conditioning all year long; a new lobby with additional lounge seating and a feature chandelier; new check-in concierge desk; new restaurant facades opening to the lobby; new marquee and free guest Wi-Fi in all rooms and the lobby.
