Allianz Global Assistance Names National Charities

diplomaAllianz Global Assistance USA (AGA) reports it has named the recipients of its 2013 corporate giving program. The Travel Aid Grant (TAG) program supports non-profit organizations across the country whose project, program or initiative is enhanced or achieved through travel.

Travel Aid Grants are administered by AGA’s Corporate Social Responsibility team, who meet twice a year to award grants in a range of amounts based on a program’s merits and beneficiaries. During this contribution wave, Allianz awarded three organizations a total of $10,000 in grants bringing the company’s total to $30,000 for 2013.

Recipients of the second wave of 2013 philanthropic grants are:

  • Dream Catchers at the Cori Sikich Therapeutic Riding Center, Williamsburg, VA
  • Wilderness Inquiry, Minneapolis, MN
  • Make a Wish, Greater Virginia Chapter

In other community endeavors, Allianz recently created a program designed to provide funding to students looking to study abroad. The ScholarTrips Contest allows global exchanges and so far has awarded over $65,000 in travel scholarships.

Greg Lais, Wilderness Inquiry's executive director, said, "This grant from Allianz Global Assistance will be used to provide financial assistance so that persons with disabilities can participate on outdoor adventures as equals and peers with fellow Wilderness Inquiry travelers to places such as Alaska, the Grand Canyon, and the Boundary Waters. Shared travel experiences are a proven way of bringing people together, and we are grateful to Allianz Global Assistance for their vision and support in doing this."

"As a leading travel insurance provider, we give Americans the confidence they need to go new places and gain new experiences,” said Alan Josephs, chief marketing officer for Allianz Global Assistance USA. “We’re proud to support organizations that make our desire to make the world a better place through new experiences and travel."

Allianz also recently launched a new collection of travel insurance plans. The company’s “Classic Plan” is now a collection of plans that include optional additional coverage. The company is also introducing an inexpensive “Essential Plan” for travelers who do not require post departure benefits such as medical and baggage protection.
