At this year's CoNexion 2015 conference, Nexion has announced that the company is expanding its business development opportunities and events.

Building off the host agency's initial NEX-Door regional events launched this year, Nexion will convene six regional sessions in 2016, called Nexion on the Road. Each event is expanding to two days to correspond with ship inspections or area activities with Nexion's supplier partners.

In conjunction with the expanded professional development opportunities offered through Nexion on the Road, Nexion is adding to its networking resources even more with a new, formalized local networking group program, known as Nexion Networks. Nexion will also launch Boot Camp 2.0 in early 2016 as a follow-up, online session for agents who attend the three-day professional development program in Irving, TX. Boot Camp 2.0 will help attendees unpack what they learn and apply it to their business through a collaborative and interactive virtual learning environment, Nexion said.

The NEX-Door events were launched earlier this year and delivered targeted networking and professional development opportunities to Nexion members throughout the country. In 2016, the events will continue under a new name, Nexion on the Road, with host cities including: Seattle, Detroit, Boston, New York City, Fort Lauderdale and Washington, D.C. There will continue to be a full day of networking and targeted education, and the 2016 Nexion on the Road events will include opportunities for attendees to experience the host city as a tourist destination in conjunction with the local convention and visitors bureaus. Nexion will also partner with various cruise lines, in four cities, to offer ship inspections and dedicated training specific to the host cruise line.

Nexion will also be launching regional member networking groups around the country called Nexion Networks. Locations for the Nexion Networks were decided based on where Nexion has large concentrations of agents as well as results from a survey of Nexion members around the United States. Members in those cities will work together to form their Nexion Network, and the appointed leader of each chapter will work with Nexion staff to develop the Nexion Network.

Corporate CoNexions for Corporate-Focused Travel Agents

Nexion also spotlighted the launch of an exclusive event called Corporate CoNexions, which provides Nexion’s corporate-focused travel agents with access to new resources and opportunities to help them grow their business, Nexion said.

The inaugural event, which will be held annually, took place this summer in Los Angeles, CA, with a full day of training and tours at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). Nexion invited its top 25 performing business travel agents for the exclusive experience at LAX, including tours of the new Delta One terminal and the expansive Alamo Rent-A-Car and National rental car facilities.

The group of Nexion agents was the first travel industry group to tour the new Delta One terminal. This state of the art terminal was designed to be “paparazzi proof,” providing a private airport experience for clients avoiding the glare of the spotlight. Nexion’s travel agents experienced the terminal like their client would, from the private elevator for expedited security to the new amenities in the Delta Sky Club.

In addition to the Delta One and Sky Club tours, Nexion agents had the opportunity to tour Alamo Rent-A-Car and National rental car’s LAX facilities, which is the largest rental car operation in the United States.

The one day event also included a tour of the Delta Air Lines LAX control tower and training sessions focused on the needs specific to corporate travel agents. Training sessions included topics such as: utilizing technology, government and legal issues, GDS changes and customer care.
