Australia to Host 2011 Travel Leaders Summit

April 12, 2011 By: George Dooley Travel Agent

Travel Leaders has chosen Sydney as the site of its 2011 International Summit to be held from June 17-19. For the 12th year in a row, Travel Leaders’ International Summit will serve as the organization’s top networking event of the year, featuring in-depth exploration and education of an international destination. In a related note, Travel Leaders recently said that, in its soon-to-be-released consumer travel survey results, Australia remains as Americans’ ultimate dream destination.

The 2011 International Summit marks the first time that the annual event has been hosted on the Australian continent. Previous Travel Leaders International Summits have been held in London (2000), Hong Kong (2001), Paris (2002), Barcelona (2003), Budapest (2004), Dublin (2005), Rome (2006), Dubai (2007), Berlin (2008), Santiago (2009) and Jerusalem (2010).

“Over the past two years, in particular, we’ve encouraged our members to become Aussie Specialists. We partnered with Tourism Australia and created a unique and rigorous training program and also offered exclusive FAM opportunities in order to provide unparalleled expert travel consultation for this once-in-a-lifetime destination,” said Roger E. Block, president of Travel Leaders Franchise Group. “With the success our members have been having in setting themselves apart as experts, it only made sense to continue our focus on this region and choose Sydney as the location for this year’s International Summit.”

In addition to the business portion of the International Summit, participating Travel Leaders can also experience different tours while in Sydney such as day tours of Sydney that include a morning Harbour Cruise; a walking tour of The Rocks; an Aboriginal Heritage tour; and a climb up the Sydney Harbour Bridge. A private group tour to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park and a trip to an Aussie rugby game are also available. Additional tour options include a guided eco-tour in the Blue Mountains and Featherdale Wildlife Park; a Captain Cook Lunch Cruise; a half-day at the Sydney Aquarium and Wildlife World; and surfing at Bondi Beach.

The summit’s farewell reception and dinner will be held at the world-famous Sydney Opera House. Registration for the International Summit is $450 per person, based on double occupancy. The registration fee includes three nights at the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney along with all events, tours, taxes, gratuities and transfers.
