Bert Rivero Named Travel Leaders Vice President

Rivero

Travel Leaders Group CEO Barry Liben has named Humberto “Bert” Rivero as Vice President of Strategic Planning & Implementation for the travel agency industry powerhouse. Rivero, who is a 30-year travel industry veteran, will report directly to Liben in the newly created role, effective immediately.

“Through the years, I have trusted Bert’s advice and incisive ability to analyze and recommend forward-thinking, fact-based strategies that can be both impactful and beneficial,” Liben said. “Over the last few months, I’ve asked him to do the same for Travel Leaders Group. During that time, Bert has delved into each of our travel agency businesses to learn and determine where we have synergies and best practices that can be deployed across our enterprise. In this new role, his goal will mirror mine: to make Travel Leaders Group even stronger as we strive to provide best-in-class solutions for every travel agency and agent under our growing umbrella.”

Rivero comes to Travel Leaders Group from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), where he served as Regional Director for the Americas since October 2004. As director, Rivero managed $21 billion worth of airline member sales through the bank settlement program in the Americas. He was also responsible for the International Airline Travel Agent Network (IATAN) organization in the U.S., promoting the IATAN accreditation and I.D. program to more than 100,000 retail- and home-based travel agent members.

Rivero began his career some 30 years ago in the airline industry, working for such carriers as Korean Air, Eastern Air Lines, Continental Airlines, BWIA West Indies Airways and United Airlines. More recently, he served as American Airlines’ managing director for the Caribbean region.

“Bert’s vast understanding and knowledge of the travel industry will only help us to sharpen our focus as one of the leading travel companies in the U.S.,” Liben added.
