Broadway League Honors Tzell Travel Group

May 17, 2011 By: George Dooley

Tzell Travel Group was honored by the Broadway League with its George MacPherson Road Award. The award recognized Tzell’s Alan Braunstein and Andi Henig for their specialization in ensuring Broadway touring productions seamlessly travel from one city to another. The award was presented on May 10 during the Broadway League’s Broadway League Awards, honoring excellence and achievement for Touring Broadway.

Tzell’s Henig and Braunstein received the award from Morag MacPherson (George MacPherson’s daughter) and Amy Jacobs (principal manager at Nina Lannan Associates). According to the Broadway League, “This is the second time this award has been given and honors the memory of George MacPherson, a veteran producer who recognized the vast potential in sharing high quality touring productions with audiences around the world. Tzell Travel represents the true spirit of a touring warrior, something George knew about better than anyone. ‘The show must go on,’ but that can only happen if the individuals who put on the show get into town. Tzell Travel represents the very best of making it happen so there can be a show, every time.”

In accepting the award, Henig told the audience that many of them might first remember her from when she began her career as an actress. She thanked Braunstein – her husband and partner – for “believing and conceiving” that they could combine their love of the theatre with their knowledge of travel and the road. “This award means a lot since we have been on the road as performers and then as travel agents for more than three decades,” Braunstein said. “We eat, sleep and breathe theater.”

“Tzell Travel Group certainly knows more than a thing or two about taking the show on the road – our seasoned team of travel experts provide star performances each and every day, giving our valued clients, including Broadway touring productions, the VIP treatment they deserve,” noted Barry Liben, President and CEO of Tzell Travel Group. “We couldn’t be more thrilled that our own ‘A Team’ has received accolades for their amazing stage presence – that is, meticulously making sure that every detail is taken care of at every stage of travel, from the initial planning and getting the shows to their destinations, right through until the tour is complete. We’re proud of Alan and Andi for all they do.”

First presented in 1992, the Broadway League Awards recognize the contributions of those who have displayed exemplary service to the Broadway industry and are considered innovators of their craft. League members bring Broadway to more than 30 million people in New York and more than 240 cities across the U.S. and Canada.
