Left to Right: Joelle Delva, VP of operations, CruiseOne & Cruises Inc.; William Maudlin, former educator from Beaver Lake, NE; Tim Courtney, director of franchise & network development, CruiseOne & Cruises Inc.; and Gina Purvis, former teacher from Marlton, NJ.

CruiseOne welcomed two of five “Second Chance at Success” franchise contest winners to their state-of-the-art Fort Lauderdale, Fla., headquarters on December 5. The two winners completed an in-depth, weeklong industry training program. Both William Maudlin and Gina Purvis, are two former educators who enlisted in the franchise giveaway that was launched in Summer 2011.

Upon completion of their training, both winners will return home to launch their own CruiseOne businesses, CruiseOne says. They will begin operations as a full-service travel agent catering to traveler’s in their local areas. Maudlin is a former director of Christian education for junior and senior high students and Purvis is a former high school math teacher.

CruiseOne’s Teacher Franchise Giveaway contest was aimed at unemployed and laid off teachers who had the chance to enlist and have a shot at a “Second Chance at Success” by winning a franchise.

Nearly 300 submissions were received as a part of CruiseOne’s “Second Chance at Success” contest, which is now expected to become an annual program. Entries – including resumes, business plans and other background materials – were judged by members of the CruiseOne network development, marketing and executive teams.

Eight finalists were interviewed before the five winners were selected.  Upon completion of the weeklong training at CruiseOne’s headquarters, all winners receive a 3-night Bahamas cruise aboard Carnival Imagination and their own CruiseOne franchise.
