Luedi, Sawyer to Headline Ensemble ConferenceAugust 4, 2009 By: George Dooley
How travel agents can survive today’s tough economic times through perseverance, a sense of adventure, and a commitment to cultural understanding will be the core messages behind Ensemble Travel Group’s speakers at its 2009 international conference at The Fairmont Banff Springs, October 21-25.
Addressing the opening general session on Wednesday, October 21 is keynote speaker Chris Luedi, regional vice president, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts Hawaii and general manager, The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui. He is also a founding member of the Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Voyaging Society. Luedi will speak about a grueling journey that took place over a five-year period (from 2003 to 2008, with the exception of 2007), and covered a total distance of over 1,600 miles, connecting Hawaii’s Big Island with Kure Atoll.
“Chris’ spirit of adventure and perseverance under adverse circumstances are the qualities that made him the ideal choice as our keynote,” said Barbara Ellenberger, senior director, conference planning and transportation for Ensemble Travel Group. “The fact that Chris is a seasoned travel industry executive makes his upcoming message even more meaningful to our audience."
Luedi’s keynote address is sponsored by Classic Vacations and Holland America Line, two long-standing partners in the Ensemble Travel Group preferred supplier program.
Forrest Sawyer, respected television journalist with nearly 50 years of experience reporting from around the world, makes a guest appearance on Thursday morning, October 22. Sawyer will lend his unique perspective and share his appreciation for the importance of travel as it relates to cultural understanding. He is a veteran of ABC, CBS, and MSNBC. He has anchored the ABC magazine programs "Day One" and "Turning Point," as well as "World News Sunday," and "Good Morning America."
