NACTA Promotes Ann van Leeuwen to President

Ann van LeeuwenAnn van Leeuwen has been named President of the National Association of Career Travel Agents (NACTA) at NACTA’s annual convention held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida September 19-22, 2013. The promotion was announced by Zane Kerby, president and CEO of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA). NACTA is a subsidiary of ASTA and van Leeuwen had served as vice president of NACTA.

Van Leeuwen joined NACTA in January 2012 as Vice President after serving nine years at Virtuoso, the agency group, in various sales capacities, including Vice President Member Sales and Service. 

The announcement was timed with NACTA’s annual convention.

“In just 18 months with NACTA, Ann has demonstrated outstanding leadership and delivered measurable results. Ann’s dedication to her members is unwavering. This combined with her leadership of the NACTA team has put the association on a path to profitability, positioning it for continued growth in the future,” said ASTA’s Kerby.
 
NACTA represents 1,800 members, including travel consultants, regional directors, chapter directors, host agencies and suppliers. Van Leeuwen is responsible for the overall management and operation of the organization including membership sales, retention, and preferred supplier relationships. 
 
“NACTA offers community and professional development for a key, growing travel industry segment: the independent (career oriented) travel consultant,” said van Leeuwen. “We offer exceptional, highly targeted benefits, programs and support for entrepreneurial, independent and home based travel agents.”
 
NACTA also reports it promoted Bob Duglin from Director of Sales and Industry Relations to Vice President.
 
NACTA said its 2014 convention is expected to be held in early November 2014.
