Travelport GDS Appoints Armin Meier As Chief Commercial Officer

Travelport GDS today announced the appointment of Armin Meier as CCO, effective September 1 after he joins the company on a part-time basis in June. Meier will be responsible for global sales, marketing, segmentation and customer engagement, comprising the Galileo and Worldspan brands, as well as the IT services and software lines of business.

Most recently, Meier was group CEO of Kuoni Travel Holding Ltd., one of Europe’s leading tourist travel corporations, listed on the Zurich Stock Exchange with 2007 turnover of CHF 4.7 billion, almost 9,000 employees and operations in over 30 countries. Prior to his work at Kuoni, he held executive responsibility for supply chain logistics and information technology at Migros, the largest retailer in Switzerland. Earlier, he was president and CEO of Atraxis AG, the airline IT services company which was part of the Swissair Group before being sold to EDS.

In his new global role, Meier will maintain offices in Switzerland and at Travelport’s GDS worldwide headquarters in Langley, UK.
