Ensemble Travel Group reported that its members--Susan Tanzman, president of Martin’s Travel and Tours in Los Angeles, and Jason Coleman, president of Jason Coleman, Inc, also of Los Angeles--have been elected president and at-large director, respectively, of the California Coalition of Travel Organizations (CCTO). The CCTO was created by the Southern California Chapter of ASTA (SoCalASTA) in 1987 to provide an effective proactive government relations effort in California. Coleman is the current SoCalASTA president.

Last month, several travel agency groups, including Ensemble Travel Group, participated in CCTO’s annual California Legislative Day. In addition to Tanzman and Coleman, Ensemble Travel Group’s Pamela Irwin, business development director, met with key legislators to promote the interests of the travel industry. Irwin serves as SoCalASTA vice president.

Among the topics discussed with California elected officials were the following: airline fuel surcharges; sales tax exemption for airline fuel purchases; service of process – car rentals; rental of cars subject to recalls; and destination management companies.

Founded in 1935, SoCalASTA is the largest chapter of the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA). Founded in 1968, Ensemble Travel Group is a member-owned international organization of approximately 850 professional travel agencies in the U.S. and Canada.
