Costa Rica Set to Kick Off 30th Expotur

expoturThe thriving Central American tourism industry will gather in Costa Rica’s capital city of San Jose for EXPOTUR from May 14-16. 

Now in its 30th year, EXPOTUR, the region’s premier travel industry event, usually attracts more than 300 tourism and hospitality businesses from throughout Central America. The event provides international participants and buyers with an unparalleled opportunity to explore tourism products and services ranging from hotels and airlines to tour operators and major attractions. EXPOTUR’s main activities and seminars will take place at the Wyndham Herradura Hotel and Convention Center.

EXPOTUR is organized by the Costa Rican Association of Professionals in Tourism (ACOPROT) and sponsored by the Costa Rica Tourism Board (ICT).

Throughout the two-day event the opportunities for networking and business development are infinite including seminars and exhibitions that focus on a variety of niche markets including sustainable tourism, adventure, weddings and honeymoons, wellness tourism, meetings, incentives and conventions, corporate travel, educational tourism, active adult travel and more.

Top tourism news and developments will be shared throughout the travel mart, all spearheaded by the Costa Rica, whom saw an impressive 7.1 percent increase in visitor arrivals this past January and February compared to the same period in 2013.
 
Costa Rica and its EXPOTUR partners are committed to sustainable and responsible travel initiatives, with that in mind the event organizers have created a credit system to offset the carbon footprint that air travelers may produce on their way to the event. Through the EXPOTUR website, event participants can calculate the necessary donation amount in order to offset carbon emissions produced by the fuel used in the air or land travel required to attend the event, these carbon credit donations will be used to augment the ongoing reforestation efforts in Costa Rica.
