Southwest to Launch Direct Washington D.C. to Costa Rica Flight

Southwest Airlines has announced plans to launch direct flight service between Washington, D.C., and Costa Rica.

The daily flights will start March 7.

Southwest also announced its plan to launch flights from Houston later this year, pending final approval.

"The United States represents the greatest tourism market for Costa Rica with an average stay of 10.4 nights per visit into our country. Visitors and repeat visitors’ numbers to Costa Rica have risen from 10.2 million in 2001 to 17.6 million in 2013, so Southwest Airlines’ new route will only supplement and strengthen our tourism market,” said Wilhelm von Breymann, Costa Rica’s minister of tourism.
