Abercrombie & Kent’s holiday cruise Antarctica, South Georgia & the Falkland Islands takes place Dec. 17, 2011 – Jan. 5, 2012 aboard M/V ‘Le Boreal.’ Oscar-winning film maker Alan Root will be featured on the cruise, where he will share stories of his experiences filming wildlife documentaries and footage for Gorillas in the Mist: The Story of Dian Fossey.

Young Explorers Program

To engage younger travellers, Abercrombie & Kent offers a program for young people that includes art, writing and reflection activities to help kids process this transformative experience. On sea days, workshops designed to inspire a passion for science include Marine Mammal Identification, Squid Biology, Charting the Ship’s Course, Fish of the Southern Ocean, Drawing Penguins, Nature Interpretation Through Art and a Plankton Lab. A photography coach helps students get the most out of their cameras, both onboard and on Zodiac cruises and shore excursions. Selected images will be featured in a scrapbook compiled by the kids during the voyage.
