Suzanne Hall of Ensemble readies to christen Avalon Affinity

Avalon Waterways unveiled the Avalon Affinity in The Netherlands on May 9, the line's newest river cruise ship in Europe and the second of five new ships planned between 2008 and 2010. Suzanne Hall, senior director at Ensemble Travel Group, served as the vessel’s godmother.

Two days later, the ship set out on its first cruise: the Windmills, Vineyards & Paris itinerary, which included calls in France, Luxembourg, Germany, Belgium and The Netherlands.

In 2009, the Avalon Affinity will sail a total of eight itineraries.

Avalon Waterways' ships all offer staterooms measuring 172 square feet and 90 percent of rooms boast floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding-glass doors.
