Blue World Voyages to Launch New Active Lifestyle Cruise Line

Blue World Voyages, a new concept cruise line, is planning to launch as a dedicated active lifestyle cruise line to the global cruise market in 2018. Miami entrepreneur, experienced fitness professional and the founder and CEO of Blue World Voyages, Gene Meehan, said he is reimagining the possibilities for what a cruise line might deliver. In a written release, Meehan said, "it's time for a cruise line, and a ship, that responds to the preferences of active, wellness-minded individuals, or of those looking to move in that direction."

Meehan has been developing the concept for Blue World Voyages for two years and has assembled a leadership team of experienced cruise industry executives who embrace the corporate philosophy. According to the release, Meehan said, "at Blue World Voyages, our attention to sports/wellness and our focus on health are not options or add-ons, they are the core of the overall cruise travel experiences we offer; embedded in the design of the ship, the onboard programs, dining options, even the itineraries. The philosophy extends to our staff and crew, who we envision participating in cross-training and adventures ashore.”

Three 350-passenger ships are planned for the Blue World Voyage fleet. The company will evaluate ports of call based on the criteria of cultural and learning opportunities; the availability of outdoor activities, including hiking, cycling, golf and watersports; and access to areas conducive of yoga and mediation. The release states that Blue World is "very serious about the concept of having passengers as investors." To develop this concept, Blue World has an equity-based crowd funding campaign offering passengers membership into the Blue World Founders Club and they have also designated 26 suites onboard its first vessel for passenger ownership. In the release, Meehan said, "we are totally passenger-centric. Our plan begins with the idea of having our passengers as our partners. We are creating a community of like-minded travelers and listening to what they say."

The first ship is timed for delivery in November 2017 and should be ready to embark on its inaugural voyage in May 2018, the line says.  According to the release, the line is eyeing various Mediterranean routes for the inaugural season and considering the possibility of Miami, Cuba and Costa Rica
