Carnival Dream Passes Test in Adriatic Sea

July 2, 2009 By: Brittany Wallace Travel Agent

Carnival Dream, Carnival Cruise Line’s largest ship, has successfully conducted sea trials in the Adriatic Sea, preparing for its September 21 debut in Europe.

The ship, which is currently under construction in Italy, had a full contingent of officers, technicians and engineers on board who tested the ship’s navigation and mechanical systems. After the sea trials, Carnival Dream will return to Monfalcone, Italy, where it will receive some final touches.

Carnival Dream is welcoming in a new era of “Fun Ship” cruising and will introduce its new additions, including Ocean Plaza, an indoor/outdoor café and entertainment venue, and whirlpools that extend out over the ship’s sides.

Some accommodations include cove balconies that are closer to the water line and five-berth, two-bathroom staterooms.

Carnival Dream is scheduled to enter service in Europe September 21, operating a series of Mediterranean cruises before heading to New York for eight-day cruises November 15 and 23.  The ship will operate a special nine-day cruise from Port Canaveral December 3 and then launch year-round seven-day Caribbean cruises from that port December 12.
