Carnival Glory Guests Issued Partial Refund Over Incomplete Water Park

Carnival Cruise Line has issued guests sailing on Carnival Glory a partial refund over work on the ship’s water park, according to a statement from the line provided to Travel Agent.

Carnival said it had underestimated the impact of planned work on the ship’s water park that was slated for a drydock due to end March 10. The work affected the ship’s February 11 and 18 and March 11 and 18 voyages.

During the February 11 and 18 voyages the ship’s water slide and pool, which are located in the middle of the ship, were closed. Carnival said that while they have done the same refurbishment work on other ships without issue, the attractions’ mid-ship location had a greater impact on guests. All guests who sailed on these two cruises are being provided with a 25 percent refund of their cruise fare and a 50 percent future cruise credit. The refund will be processed to the original form of payment within approximately three weeks.

Finishing work will continue during the ship’s March 11 and 18 voyages, during which the WaterWorks area on the ship will continue to be unavailable. The main and aft pools will be open. Carnival said it will provide guests on these sailings with a $200 per cabin onboard credit. Guests will also have the option to re-book on a comparable ship in similar accommodations with rate protection and no penalty. Guests may also cancel and receive a full refund.

“We extend our sincerest apologies to our guests for this disruption to their planned vacation and hope they will accept our offer and continue with their cruise plans,” Carnival said.
