Copenhagen Airport Introduces Onboard Check-in for Cruise PassengersJanuary 22, 2015 By: Newswire

For the start of the 2015 cruise season, Copenhagen Airport is introducing a new facility that allows cruise ship passengers to check in for their flights before leaving the ship.
The passenger’s luggage can also be labeled and dropped outside their cabin onboard for onward transmission to Copenhagen Airport and the passenger's final destination airport.
"Though already operational in the U.S., I believe Copenhagen is Europe’s first airport to provide such a travel service of convenience," said Cruise Copenhagen Network Director, Claus Bødker. "This also provides an opportunity for cruise lines to achieve extra revenue, while the cruise visitor then has more time to spend enjoying the many attractions of Wonderful Copenhagen.”
Here's how the process works:
-Airline check-in is performed onboard the ship by crew members, enabling passengers to bypass the check-in counters at the airport
-Payment for the service will be implemented through the passenger’s credit card
-Boarding passes are distributed onboard and labeled baggage is transported directly from the ship to the airport's screening and sorting facility
-Cruise passengers can proceed directly to the security check point upon arrival at the airport
-Secure procedures are in place for off-airport passenger and baggage processing
Fully operational at Copenhagen Airport from the 2015 season onwards, successful tests on this onboard check-in facility have been carried out during the past year, with participation by airline SAS and Princess Cruises and Holland America Line’s Eurodam.
