Cruise Ship Preview: Entertainment on Ovation of the Seas

Royal Caribbean International has announced the entertainment lineup for Ovation of the Seas, the line's first new ship built for the China cruise market.

The ship will sail with Two70, a multi-level greatroom that takes advantage of Vistarama -- expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that can be set into any scene, real or imagined, by combining 18 projectors to create an ambient surface over 100 feet wide and over 20 feet tall -- six agile Roboscreens and live performers to host technologically advanced performances. Spectra’s Cabaret, an original production by Royal Caribbean International and Moment Factory exclusively for Two70 (also on Anthem of the Seas), features the Maestro and his Agents of Rhythm as they invite the audience to an electric, multi-dimensional cabaret.

The main Royal Theater, which seats 1,300 guests, will host two shows. The Dream is the story of a man who is visited by his departed soulmate, who helps him rediscover his passion for life and gives him the will to pursue his wildest dreams and to find love again. Live. Love. Legs., from the team behind Sequins & Feathers on Quantum of the Seas, combines aerial acrobatics, choreography and vocal performances into an all-new production.

Off the stage, Ovation will offer guests a lineup of fully produced late-night events and parties. In the Music Hall, guests are treated to live music, where travelers can dance till the wee hours of the morning, as well as enjoy theme parties such as Groovy Town. Two70 hosts late-night themed parties such as Twist & Shout and Fireworks Party, along with the Roboshows that incorporate live performers and technology.

For younger guests, the ship will host events and activities featuring DreamWorks Animation's popular film characters, ranging from DreamWorks character breakfasts in the main dining room, impromptu ‘meet-and-greet’ experiences to photo-ops throughout the day and exclusive DreamWorks merchandise.

Ovation will be a sister ship to Quantum of the Seas and Anthem of the Seas, with signature amenities including the North Star, an observation capsule that gently rises more than 300 feet in the air to treat guests to panoramic views; skydiving and surfing experiences; and SeaPlex, the largest indoor activity space at sea, which includes basketball, roller-skating, bumper cars, and more. Each ship offers 18 restaurants onboard with a variety of cuisines to choose from, as well as accommodations with Loft Suites and Virtual Balcony staterooms, interior accommodations that feature large digital screens displaying real-time views.

Ovation of the Seas will officially launch in April 2016, departing Southampton, England for Tianjin, China on a 52-day “Global Odyssey” voyage. The ship will begin its first homeport sailing season in China from Tianjin in June 2016. Ovation, together with Quantum of the Seas, Mariner of the Seas, Voyager of the Seas and Legend of the Seas, will make up the largest fleet of any cruise line sailing in China, Royal Caribbean said.
