Cruise Ship Preview: Princess Cruises’ Majestic PrincessAugust 24, 2016 By: Newswire
Princess Cruises has announced the design details and key features of the upcoming Majestic Princess, the sister ship to the line’s Regal Princess and Royal Princess.
Majestic Princess will set sail April 4, 2017, on its inaugural voyage, a five-day Adriatic Sea cruise roundtrip from Rome with stops in Kotor and Corfu.
Following that cruise, Majestic Princess will offer seven-, 14-, 21- and 28-day cruises in Europe departing from Rome, Barcelona or Athens. A repositioning voyage will depart Barcelona on May 14, 2017, visiting Dubai and Singapore before arriving in Shanghai, the ship’s new home. Majestic Princess will begin its first cruise from its home-port in Shanghai on July 11, 2017, carrying 3,560 guests to a variety of destinations in Japan and Korea.
Onboard, the ship will offer culinary experiences designed and executed by chefs from France, Italy, the United States, Australia, China and Japan, among others, with dining experiences inspired by the line’s ports of call. As with sister ships Royal Princess and Regal Princess, the Majestic Princess will have the exclusive Chef’s Table Lumiere dining experience, hosted by the line’s Princess Executive Chef and including a private galley tour and a multicourse dinner served at a grand custom-designed table where guests are surrounded by a glimmering curtain of light. The ship will also have the line’s Crown Grill & Bar American steakhouse, as well as Alfredo’s, the line’s Italian and Neapolitan pizza restaurant named after Master Chef Alfredo Marzi.
Majestic Princess will also debut two new specialty restaurants. Harmony, created in partnership with Chef Richard Chen, formerly of Wynn Las Vegas “Wing Lei,” the first Chinese restaurant in North America awarded a Michelin star, will serve haute Chinese cuisine paired with ocean views and modern décor. Le Bistrot, located in the ship’s atrium, will offer casual French home-style dining with dishes meant to harken back to a Parisian bistro, such as Escargots Casseroles, Braised Ox Tongue and Mushroom Ragout, along with baquettes, tartines, tourtes and French Patisseries.
Additionally, there will be a wide selection of all-day food in the World Fresh Marketplace (Horizon Court buffet on other ships), where guests can take advantage of food stations from around the world, ranging from Mediterranean dishes, a pasta specialty counter, farmer’s market salads and fresh fruits and a new “East Meets West” street food specialty counter. The Bakery inside the World Fresh Marketplace will serve Western, European and Asian pastries and Danishes.
Design and Accommodations
The interiors of Majestic Princess will be influenced by fashion, art and history, with the use of metal, glass and inlaid wood throughout, as well as European marble, mosaic tile floors, polished woods and fabrics. Custom carpets in the guest corridors and hand-tufted area rugs at the entrances to the main dining rooms will have a floral motif.
More than 80 percent of Majestic Princess’ staterooms include a private balcony. All staterooms have the new Princess Luxury bed, which includes luxury linens designed by Candice Olson, the Canadian design-star of the hit HGTV shows “Candice Tells All” and “Divine Design.”
Entertainment and Amenities
The first two shows on Majestic Princess will be “Fiera” and “Fantastic Journey,” both of which have previously debuted across the Princess fleet. These musical shows have a cast of singers and dancers along with elaborate production numbers, costumes and multimedia stage technology. The ship will also have Movies Under the Stars on an outdoor screen, as well as Water Color Fantasy, a water and light show.
Other onboard amenities will include the SeaWalk glass floor walkway, as well as the SeaView Bar, which offers “flair” bartending and ocean views. The Piazza Atrium, the focal point of the ship, will have live entertainment throughout the day and evening, surrounded by The Shops of Princess, which includes designer brand shops from Cartier, Bvlgari and Chopard, leather goods from Burberry and Gucci, along with watches by these luxury brands as well as Montblanc, Longines, Rado and Tissot.
