Travel Agent attended a Costa Cruises event for 80 travel agents and cruise-focused media onboard Costa Deliziosa at Port Everglades, FL, on Tuesday. Costa's North American management team -- Ruben Perez, general manager, and Scott Knutson, vice president of sales and marketing -- hosted an Italian style lunch in the main dining room followed by a ship tour.
Prior to the luncheon, Costa, Port Everglades, the U.S. Coast Guard and Broward County Fire Rescue & Emergency Services officials participated in a ceremony in one of the ship's lounges to exchange a plaque and ship models. It marked Costa's return to Port Everglades; it had sailed instead from PortMiami the previous year. Costa first began sailing from Port Everglades in the 1950s.
This winter the 92,700-ton Costa Deliziosa operates 10-night itineraries with calls in both the eastern and western Caribbean. Here's a look at a few spaces of Costa Deliziosa, designed by architect Joe Farcus, known for frenetic, brightly colored, glitzy interiors. The ship was launched in 2010.
