Cunard's Queen Victoria Sets Sail With a New Look

Queen Victoria

Queen Victoria marked the start of her 2015 world voyage with a fireworks celebration. The ship belongs to the Cunard Line along with the Queen Mary 2 and the Queen Elizabeth.

The Queen Victoria set sail from Southampton after a 20-day refurbishment. There are now nine new single staterooms. Additionally, the interiors and outside spaces got refreshed, and eight Internet stations were installed in the library.

Working all day and night, contractors replaced all of the carpet in the passenger areas and brought 3,167 new mattresses onboard. Queen Victoria also got paint touch ups and almost four miles of piping installed.

“The results of Queen Victoria’s refit are a true testament to Cunard’s ability to respond to passenger input. We are delighted to incorporate their wish for more outdoor space with enhancements to the Upper Grill Terrace and additional areas for sunbathing,” said Rick Meadows, president of Cunard, North America.

Queen Victoria will first sail to Ponta Delgada in the Azores. Then the ship will continue the world voyage, sailing to the Caribbean, Panama, Hawaii and Australia.
