Discovery Cruise Line is now offering passengers the chance to earn a free cruise to Grand Bahama Island.

Passengers will receive the free cruise if they can find commercial transportation to the destination at a price lower than Discovery’s $99.99 per person roundtrip fare. The $29 per person Bahamian departure and harbor fees, security and CBP user fees and a $5 per ticket transaction fee are additional, making the total cost of the trip $133.99 per person.

"People are confused by the advertising of low fares that hide all the extras in the small print, or the low fares are simply not available. We want them to know that we have the least expensive transportation to Grand Bahama Island, bar none,” said Hanns J. Hahn, the general manager of the cruise line. “In addition, this summer on Discovery kids 17 and under cruise free, except that surcharges of $34 per person apply to all passengers. And, if someone wants to stay over on the island the cost is only around $30 additional per person per night. Plus, if you show a valid U.S. adult passport or passport card issued in 2009 you receive $20 free in Discovery Dollars."

Discovery sails daily except Wednesdays from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale to Grand Bahama Island, departing at 7:45 a.m. and returning at 10 p.m. Discovery offers same day roundtrip cruises as well as cruise and stay vacation packages at hotels from budget to deluxe, including Pelican Bay at Lucaya.

Guests can experience a different culture when visiting Grand Bahama.  Activities on the island include snorkeling, caves, kayaking, fishing, diving, golf, eco-adventures, duty-free shopping, swimming with dolphins and a strawmarket.
