Emerald Waterways Introduces New Onboard Activities

Emerald Waterways is expanding its onboard programming and entertainment for guests with new photography workshops, yoga classes and dining with a celebrity guest chef.

These new amenities and experiences are launching this year as well as in 2018. The Sensations of Southern France cruise, which embarks on October 14, 2017, gives guests aboard the ship the chance to learn how to take “sharper, more captivating” pictures with their smartphone cameras. Jack Hollingsworth, a professional photographer, will be the teacher, as his is a recognized name in travel and lifestyle photography – especially when it comes to shooting with a smartphone. He is also the author of the new book, “The Joy of iPhotography.”

Along with photography workshops, guests sailing through France will be immersed in the country’s “culinary prowess,” getting to taste a traditional Provençal style dinner while docked in Avignon, cooked by acclaimed local chef and Top Chef France finalist Fabien Morreale. The chef owns two restaurants – La Garage and Le Gusto Café – in his native Martigues, a coastal town near Marseille. While on Top Chef, he made it to the final four and continues to be dedicated to cooking with the freshest local ingredients, Emerald Waterways said.

Aboard Emerald Waterways’ Douro River sailings in Portugal, guests will meet all of their wellness needs with on-board yoga classes as part of the EmeraldACTIVE program. This program was designed to “provide guests the option to engage in more strenuous pursuits while cruising,” the cruise line said in a press release, and will host yoga classes on the ship’s sundeck.

Emerald Waterways is part of Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours’ Family of Brands, which has grown over its 30-year history to include award-winning escorted tours across the globe. Emerald Waterways is one of two of the brand’s award-winning river cruise lines. This cruise line’s seven Star-Ships offer voyages in Europe, the Mekong and Russia.
