Editor's Note: Our Paris correspondent, Mary Winston Nicklin just boarded the new Seven Seas Explorer and is reporting for us "live." She's provided these "first look" photos of public spaces. Stay tuned throughout the week for photos of accommodations, the christening and more.

Yesterday, the 56,000-grt Seven Seas Explorer, the newest ship in the Regent Seven Seas Cruises fleet was christened in Monte Carlo. Carrying just 750 guests, the elegantly designed ship has one of the highest space ratios in the cruise industry.

Highlights? Among them are two new specialty restaurants, Chartreuse and Pacific Rim, along with creatively designed lounges and public spaces, plus the 3,875-square foot Regent Suite. The ship also has the brand's first culinary instruction center.

The ship's maiden voyage is July 20, 2016, and it will spend an inaugural season in Europe before heading to Miami for a series of Caribbean voyages. For more information, visit www.rssc.com
