December 3, 2007 By: Travel Agent Central Contributor Travel Agent

The Balmoral, Fred. Olsen Cruises' latest addition to its fleet, is currently in Hamburg at the Blohm & Voss shipyard undergoing major renovations in advance of the ship's winter sailings from Dover, England. The ship, formerly the Norwegian Crown, will be extended by 99 feet, with the extra room allowing for an additional 186 passengers and 53 crew cabins. Sixty balconies will be added, and public areas will be modified as well. The refitting is scheduled to conclude on January 18, when the ship will go through sea trials before being handed over to Fred. Olsen on January 22. The ship's inaugural cruise will depart January 30 for the Canary Islands. Visit (DE)
