Freedom of the Seas Fire Update: Ship Continues on Regularly Scheduled Itinerary

July 23, 2015

Following a fire that struck Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas at approximately 9:15 a.m. on July 22, the ship is now continuing on its regularly scheduled itinerary, Royal Caribbean announced via Twitter

The ship left Falmouth, Jamaica, where the fire occurred, at 1pm July 22. Its next stop is George Town, Grand Cayman

The fire broke out in one of the ship's mechanical spaces as it was puling into Falmouth. The ship's fire suppression system was immediately activated, which contained and extinguished the fire.

All guests and crew have been accounted for. There have been no reported injuries to any guest, but one crew member was treated for first-degree burns.

Freedom of the Seas is currently on a seven-night sailing that departed Cape Canaveral, Florida, on Sunday, July 19, and includes port calls to Labadee, Haiti; Falmouth, Jamaica; George Town, Grand Cayman; and Cozumel, Mexico
