Guest Falls Overboard From Carnival Triumph

Sunday evening, a 44-year-old female guest was spotted going overboard from Carnival Triumph while the ship was on a cruise in the Gulf of Mexico, a Carnival Cruise Line representative tells Travel Agent. The ship was on the second day of a five-day cruise out of New Orleans.

Search and rescue operations are underway and all appropriate authorities have been notified, Carnival said. The cruise line’s CARE Team is providing support and assistance to the guest’s family.

No further details on the circumstances of the fall were available at this time.

Carnival Triumph is currently homeported in New Orleans, where it offers a schedule of five- and six-day cruises. The ship’s five-day itineraries call on Cozumel, Mexico, and the Yucatan (Progreso). Its next itinerary is scheduled to depart New Orleans January 25.
