Holland America Line Gets Cooking With Top Chef

Bernstein

Award-winning Miami-based chef and restaurateur Michelle Bernstein will join passengers of Holland America Line’s Mediterranean Romance Voyage onboard the Niew Amsterdam, the newest ship for the cruise line. During the cruise, Bernstein will perform cooking demonstrations for guests in the ship’s Culinary Arts Center kitchen, and participate in question-and-answer sessions with passengers.

While Bernstein is perhaps best known as a judge on Bravo’s “Top Chef” television series and as host of the PBS television series, “Check, Please!” she also owns restaurants in Miami, Cancun and Palm Beach, FL. She is known for her Latin-inspired cuisine and won a James Beard Award for Best Chef: South in 2007.

Piquing passengers’ interest in culinary travel is nothing new for Holland America Line. Each of the line’s 15 ships features a Culinary Arts Center in partnership with Food & Wine magazine. The center consists of a show kitchen that can be used for cooking demonstrations, tastings and hands-on cooking classes. This year, Holland America Line plans to host approximately 65 chefs and wine experts onboard its fleet.

The line’s 12-day Mediterranean Romance Voyage departs from Venice, Italy, sailing to Barcelona, Spain, with calls at Catania, Naples, Civitavecchia (Rome) and Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Kerkira (Corfu), Argostoli and Thira (Santorini), Greece.
