Holland America Line Hosts Fundraiser and Survivor Luncheon for Komen Puget Sound

Holland America Line hosted a fundraiser luncheon and survivor celebration for the Puget Sound affiliate of Susan G. Komen Puget Sound on September 10 onboard ms Westerdam at the Port of Seattle

Breast cancer survivor Juliet Disparte gave an inspiring speech on her journey beginning with her diagnosis at age 27 to her current role in numerous cancer organizations.

The band Cinderella’s Dirty Little Secret entertained attendees in the ship’s main show lounge during the program. Prior to the entertainment, the luncheon was held in the main dining room.

Since Disparte’s diagnosis, she has been named an education ambassador with Bright Pink, joined the stakeholder advisory board for Young Women with Breast Cancer at The Johns Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, and is also an active volunteer with Komen Puget Sound.

Each year, Holland America Line hosts more than 25 shipboard charity luncheons for nearly 5,000 guests. Additionally, Holland America Line and its corporate foundation’s charitable programs provide cash sponsorships, free- and reduced-fare cruise donations for nonprofit fundraising events, and donations of usable shipboard items around the world while simultaneously encouraging employee volunteerism.
