Norwegian cruise line Hurtigruten, in partnership with the Norwegian Broadcast Company, have set the Guinness World Record for “Longest Live TV Documentary” through their 134-hour non-stop broadcast of Hurtigruten’s itinerary across the west coast of Norway.
The footage aired June 16-22 and was watched by nearly six million viewers from 148 different countries – three million of which from Norway, comprising almost three quarters of the country’s population.
The documentary was filmed aboard the 457-berth MS Nordnorge with a film crew of 20 people and 11 cameras, both fixed and handheld. The majority of the footage was comprised of interviews with passengers, scenes aboard the ship, and panoramic views. The voyage traveled from Bergen to Kirkenes above the Arctic Circle, and visited the Lofoten Islands, Art Noveau Alesund, the western fjords, and the North Cape.
