On its blog, Royal Caribbean has announced that it will revise itineraries for Empress of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas. The new itineraries are:

Tuesday, August 2: Key West, Florida
Wednesday, August 3: At Sea
Thursday, August 4: Nassau, Bahamas
Friday, August 5: CocoCay, Bahamas
Saturday, August 6: Miami, Florida

Liberty of the Seas

Tuesday, August 2: Cozumel, Mexico
Wednesday, August 3: At Sea
Thursday, August 4: Nassau, Bahamas

Cruise Critic reports that Norwegian Cruise Line has canceled the Belize City call for Norwegian Escape. The ship instead called at Cozumel on August 3, and it will have a sea day on August 4 and will call in Nassau August 5.

Carnival Cruise Line tells Travel Agent that the line has modified Carnival Glory’s itinerary to replace the August 2 call at Roatan with a call at Cozumel, an August 3 call in Belize with a sea day, August 4’s call at Cozumel with a call at Freeport and August 5’s sea day with a Nassau call. For Carnival Magic, August 3’s Belize call was replaced with a call in Cozumel, with two sea days August 4 and 5 instead of one sea day August 5. Carnival Paradise swapped its originally planned August 3 Grand Cayman and August 4 Cozumel calls.

Latest Forecast reports that Earl was downgraded to a tropical storm after making landfall in Belize as a Category 1 hurricane early Thursday morning. Belize City’s airport and the country’s national parks have closed. The storm also flipped a lobster fishing boat off the coast of Honduras, throwing 83 people overboard, and caused flooding in Trujillo that forced the evacuation of four families.

In the Dominican Republic, six died and 12 were injured when the storm caused power lines to fall on a bus filled with people returning from a beach excursion near Nagua. The storm also overturned a boat near Nagua, killing three people, with another four missing.
