The ms Koningsdam From Holland America Is Set to Sail in 2016

Koningsdam Float Out

Holland America Line's new ms Koningsdam is set to be delivered March 31, 2016. This week the ship was transferred from its dry dock to its outfitting dock at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard in Italy, where the final construction and interior furnishings will take place.

“A ship’s construction has many key milestones, and floating it out and moving it to the outfitting dock is especially symbolic,” said Orlando Ashford, president of Holland America Line. “The float out represents that we are getting closer to welcoming Koningsdam to our fleet and seeing the ship in the water adds to the excitement among our loyal guests, travel agent partners and employees in anticipation of its arrival.”

The ship had a coin ceremony last month when Tineke Schröder, wife of the founder of Dutch airline Martinair and a member of Holland America Line’s Mariner Society served as the ship’s madrina.

The ms Koningsdam is part of the new Pinnacle Class at Holland America Line. It will begin its premier voyage on April 8, 2016. The ship will have several different eateries, including Sel de Mer, which is a French seafood brasserie. Pinnacle Grill and Canaletto Italian will also be onboard. There will be a total of 1,331 guest accommodations.
