Norwegian Cruise Line to Build New Ship for China Market

norwegian joyNorwegian Cruise Line has announced plans for Norwegian Joy, a new ship that will be purpose-built for the China market. 

The ship's resort-style vacation experiences and amenities will be designed specifically for Chinese guests, said Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Chief Executive Officer Frank Del Rio

With a capacity of 3,900 guests, the new Breakaway Plus-class vessel will debut in China in summer 2017. Plans for the Chinese guest-focused amenities have involved consultation with Chinese partners and local experts on Chinese culture and preferences.

In addition to new entertainment options, the ship will also offer fine dining, duty-free luxury shopping at sea and new onboard activities. 

Additional details, including the ship’s homeport, accommodations, dining and entertainment will be shared in the coming months.

To support NCL’s expansion in China, the company has opened offices in Beijing (Guomao CBD) and Shanghai (Xintiandi), supporting all three brands in the company’s portfolio – Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises.
