Norwegian Cruise Line Talks Shopping, Entertainment on Norwegian JoySeptember 26, 2016 By: Newswire
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) has released details on the shopping and entertainment available on its new ship, the Norwegian Joy, which is being purpose-built for the China cruise market. The news was part of a broader update on the cruise company’s plans for China cruises.
When it sets sail the Norwegian Joy will have the largest upscale shopping venue in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet, with duty-free shops and high-end brands like Cartier, Omega, Bvlgari, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Versace.
Additionally, newly announced entertainment options for the new ship include stage shows Elements and Paradis.
In addition to Norwegian Joy, NCLH brands Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises will all call on ports in China over the next 12 months, with four ships to bring nearly 7,000 international tourists to China ports over the next six months, including Hong Kong, Xiamen, Shanghai, Dalian and Tianjin, said NCLH President and Chief Executive Officer Frank J. Del Rio. More calls are scheduled for 2018.
Norwegian Cruise Line will deploy the newly refurbished Norwegian Star to sail Asia-based itineraries in December 2016, bringing more than 2,300 international tourists to Hong Kong and Sanya during each of its 11- and 14-day cruises. In February 2017, upper premium brand Oceania Cruises will seasonally deploy the 684-passenger ship Nautica in Asia, along with sibling ship Insignia in March 2017. Luxury brand Regent Seven Seas Cruises will round out the company’s deployment in March 2017 with the 700-guest ship Seven Seas Voyager spending the spring season in Asia.
Norwegian Cruise Line has also ramped up its support for growth in the China cruise market by opening offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong and relocated key senior leadership to China over the past year, including NCLH China President David J. Herrera.
