Port Canaveral Elects Thomas Weinberg to 2014 Chairman

Thomas “Tom” Weinberg will serve a second consecutive term as chairman of the Canaveral Port Authority Board, accepting the job after an unanimous vote during the January Commission meeting.

A fourth-generation Brevard County, Fla., resident elected from District 5, Weinberg begin his Board tenure in January 2011. He is a licensed realtor who has held several local, state, and federal positions, including chief of staff for former U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez and deputy county administrator for Orange County, Fla., government.

Titusville, Fla., attorney Jerry Allender also will serve a second consecutive term as vice chairman of the board. He was elected to the Port Authority in August 2010 to represent District 1 and begin his term in January 2011.

Frank Sullivan was elected to the board in November 2010 from District 3 for a term beginning January 2011. He is a lifelong Cocoa, Fla., resident and a third-generation citrus grower and shipper. He was voted to serve a second consecutive term as Secretary Treasurer.

Robert 'Bruce' Deardoff was elected in November 2010 from District 4 for a term that began in January 2011 continues his tenure on the Board. The Merritt Island, Fla., resident is owner of Island Lincoln-Mercury Jaguar Land Rover, as well as several other dealerships.

John H. Evans also continues his Board service. He was elected from District 2 in November 2012 and began his term in January 2013. He is a Titusville resident, practicing law since 1973.
