Princess Cruises' 50th Anniversary Contest Winner Announced

Princess CruisesPrincess Cruises will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this coming year, and in celebration of that occasion the cruise line held an “inspiring story” contest. The contest invited past passengers to share a moving story that happened while on a Princess cruise.

A WWII veteran won the competition. During a South Pacific cruise the veteran of the Iwo Jima and Okinawa invasions returned to the islands, where he originally served. He was able to share memories with his wife and other WWII vets while there.

As the winner he will ride on Princess Cruises' float, during the Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, CA. The parade will take place New Year’s Day.

“We were truly inspired by the stories of love, family and the triumph of the human spirit we received from our guests, and we want to thank everyone who shared their personal stories with us,” said Jan Swartz, Princess Cruises' president.

The Princess Cruises' float is 60 feet long and covered in 24,000 flowers.
