Royal Caribbean International will upgrade its bedding fleet wide, starting with the new Freedom of the Seas this May and continuing through 2007 for other ships. The bedding revamp is not just cosmetic, but a full-bodied makeover. Accommodations will receive new bed frames, new nine-inch plush mattresses with separate two-inch thick pillowtops, plus new duvets with cotton blend covers, cotton-blend sheets, and microfiber pillow. While the pillow tops are doubled over on twin beds, they can be unfolded and laid one on top of another when being made into a queen configuration. The result is a "gap free" sleep experience, solving the dilemma of the space gap that often forms when two beds are put together.
