Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. felt the sting of the recession in the third quarter as profits fell 44 percent. The company is also predicting a fourth-quarter loss in Florida, where many winter travelers live, due to the state's slow economy.
On the bright side, it seems as though the company's discounted fares led to increased reservations in mid-September. And although Royal Caribbean expects its net yields to dip about 8 percent in the fourth quarter, improvements are anticipated for the first quarter of 2010 and throughout the year.
