Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas Delays Departure

Royal Caribbean’s Majesty of the Seas has been forced to delay its February 14 departure due to a technical issue with some of the ship’s life jackets.

On February 13, a routine inspection of the ship by the U.S. Coast Guard came across some technical issues, including some outdoor life jackets that were showing their age, according to a statement from the line provided to Travel Agent. Life jacket replacements arrived to the ship early the morning of February 14, and Royal Caribbean said it expects to address the other issues shortly.

Majesty of the Seas is scheduled for a four-night sailing out of Port Canaveral, with port calls to CocoCay and Nassau, Bahamas.

In an update on Twitter, Royal Caribbean announced that it would offer impacted guests a 25 percent refundable onboard credit, as well as a 25 percent future cruise certificate.

The ship set sail Tuesday afternoon. Royal Caribbean said that future sailings would not be impacted by the issue.
