Scenic Adds Two New 2018 Christmas Market Cruises

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours has added two new Christmas Market cruises for the 2018 season. Cruises will take guests on either the Rhine or Danube River through traditional European Christmas Markets. 

The markets take place every year during Advent and offer a variety of shopping, entertainment, and dining experiences. Popular destinations including Vienna’s Christkindlmarkt, held on the square in front of City Hall; Nuremberg’s world-renowned market dating back to 1628; or Cologne’s  array of puppet theatres, toy stalls and fairytales – and the largest Christmas tree in Rhineland. At the markets, travelers can purchase hand crafted tree ornaments, wooden nutcrackers, and special holiday treats. 

Scenic offers all-inclusive cruises with fare covering all-suite accommodations, meals onboard, butler services, unlimited complimentary beverages, all gratuities, expert local guides, and all Scenic Freechoice activities and Scenic Enrichspecial events.

The new Christmas Market cruises include:

  • Rhine Christmas Markets with Switzerland – This 12-day adventure brings guests through the 100 cottage-style shopping stands in Koblenz, the 120 stands along Drosselgasse Lane in the old town of Rüdesheim, and one of Europe’s largest Christmas markets in Strasbourg. Two Scenic-exclusive Enrich events include a private concert in the Baroque Mannheim Palace, and a cheese-making experience at the Restaurant Le Chalet in Switzerland’s French city of Chateau d’Œx. While in Switzerland, guests can shop at the Lucerne markets Starting fares are US$5,295 and CAN$6,450 per person.
  • Danube Christmas Markets with Prague – The 11-day tour makes multiple stops for a variety of market experiences. During the three-days in Prague, guests can explore the main markets at the Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square or the many smaller ones throughout the city. Other sites include the Astronomical Clock, the 14th-century Charles Bridge, the 9th-century Prague Castle, and well as dozens of museums. The eight-day cruise brings guests through Budapest and Vienna. While there, they are treated to a Scenic Enrich exclusive event - a private evening concert at Palais Liechtenstein, a 300-year-old residence of the Princely family of Vienna, features the music of Strauss and Mozart. The cruise will also make stops in Germany and Austria with both guided cultural tours and dozens of Christmas markets along the way. Fares start at US$3,595 and CAN$4,980.
