Scenic Cruises Commissions Ninth 'Space Ship' for 2014

Scenic Cruises, a division of leading tour operator Scenic Tours, announced the commission of a second new Scenic ‘Space-Ship’ to be delivered in 2014.

This comes on the back of the company’s April announcement of a new Scenic Space-Ship, the Scenic Gem, custom-built for sailing on France’s Seine River in 2014; the completion of a $10-million rebuild to the current fleet sailing the Rhine, Main, Danube, Moselle and Black Sea routes; and the recent launch of the Scenic Jewel. The Scenic Jade will bring the company’s fleet of Scenic Space-Ships to nine and will sail along the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers.

Including the company’s boutique small ship, Scenic Tsar, which exclusively sails in Russia and was launched less than a year ago, the Scenic Jade and Scenic Gem will bring the total Scenic Cruises fleet to ten in 2014. And the Scenic Tours group of companies will command a greater market share in Europe in 2014 when sister company, Evergreen Tours, launches two new ships of its own – yet to be named.

Scenic Jade will offer personal butler service for all guests; luxury cabins and suites; s complimentary mini-bar stocked daily; 32-inch Samsung HD TVs linked to Mac mini computers with complimentary internet access; and a queen-size ‘Scenic Slumber-Bed’ with a pillow menu. Complimentary beverages handpicked by the company’s sommelier complement the range of cuisine prepared from fresh local produce in all five dining options including the River Café, the Italian-based Portobello Restaurant and dégustation at Table La Rive.

Scenic is also offering “all-inclusive” sailings. Everything from the optional excursions to all meals to the mini-bar replenishment in the cabins to entertainment aboard and ashore is included. Even the gratuities on board and on tours is included.
