Scenic Eclipse to Offer Eastern Mediterranean Sailings

scenic eclipseScenic has announced plans for the new Scenic Eclipse luxury yacht to offer 10-day eastern Mediterranean sailings in September 2018 and June 2019. While full itinerary details are not expected until February 2017, current plans include helicoptering over Mount Etna or using the ship’s onboard seven-seat submarine to visit sunken wrecks.

Departing Venice after an evening welcoming reception, the Scenic Eclipse makes port in Italy’s Ravenna, where guests can discover the Basilica of San Vitale – one of Europe’s earliest examples of Christian Byzantine architecture; and Otranto, a seaside town that has gone from Greek to Roman to Turkish to French and finally back to Italian rule in its 1,000-year-plus history. Sicily’s 35,000-year-old Mount Etna is the focus of day 4.

Scenic Eclipse will next moor in the cliffside village of Positano on the Amalfi Coast, as well as visit Pisa and Cannes. The ship then cruises up the French and Spanish Riviera, ending the trip in Barcelona.

Scenic Eclipse has 114 all-veranda suites, rangingfrom the 344 sq. ft. Verandah Suite to the 2,500 sq. ft., two-bedroom Owner’s Penthouse Suite. Guests will enjoy a choice of six on-board dining options – from contemporary fine dining with French cuisine, to Pan Asian, Italian and steak to casual al-fresco dining on the Pool Deck or in the Ocean Cafe Lounge. Guests can relax in one of the Jacuzzis on the Sun Deck or enjoy a drink with friends in one of the bars and lounges on board. The ship also has a nearly 5,000 sq. ft. spa offering a menu of luxury treatments, indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis and plunge pools. The wellness aspect is complemented by a gym with a separate yoga and Pilates studio.

All meals (no surcharge at any on-board dining venue), complimentary top-shelf beverages all day every day, butler service with an almost 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio and on-board entertainment and lectures in the 240-seat theater are included in the cruise fare. As with all Scenic cruises, all tips and gratuities are also included, as is complimentary Wi-Fi, local guides for included shore excursions, a choice of included Scenic Freechoice activities to personalize the guest experience, plus numerous Scenic Enrich special events.

The ship will also have two on-board helicopters as well as a seven-seat submarine.

The Eclipse brochure details 18 different itineraries and is available on the Scenic website at www.scenicusa.com.
