Seabourn Debuts New Group Sales Commissions for Agents

Seabourn has introduced a new set of policies and amenities to assist travel agents in promoting and selling groups aboard its fleet of all-suite ships.

The enhanced program provides agents with an option to choose either shipboard credits or bonus commissions as value-added amenities for booking groups.

"With the introduction of our award-winning new ships and the tripling of our capacity, we wanted to ensure that agents have the tools and amenities they need to book all types of group business on Seabourn, from affinity, social and company groups to family events and service clubs," said Doug Seagle, Seabourn’s vice president of sales.

For sailings of nine days or less, agents can elect to promote incentive shipboard credits of $250 per suite, or to earn a three percent bonus group commission. For voyages of 10 days or more, shipboard credits are $500 per suite and the alternative bonus commission is five percent. In addition, agents booking groups earn tour conductor credits, which vary by sailing and range from one for seven guests to one for 15 guests.

The enhanced program is offered on sailings departing after August 1, 2011.

Group allotment guidelines for Seabourn’s group sales program are:

Group Minimum

Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend – a minimum commitment of four suites/eight guests (based on double occupancy)
Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Sojourn and Seabourn Quest – a minimum commitment of five suites/10 guests (based on double occupancy)

Group Maximum

Seabourn Pride, Seabourn Spirit and Seabourn Legend – 22 suites/44 guests (based on double occupancy)
Seabourn Odyssey, Seabourn Sojourn and Seabourn Quest – 50 suites/100 guests (based on double occupancy)

In the fall of 2011 and winter of 2012, Seabourn’s fleet of six intimate ships will sail across the globe and visit far-flung destinations in Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand; South and Central America; the South Pacific; the Mediterranean; Caribbean; and New England and Canada. Itineraries range from seven to 60 days in length.

To earn the shipboard credit or bonus commission amenities, participating travel agent partners must sell enough suites to earn the first Tour Conductor berth and make final payment on the qualifying bookings.
